Colorado Exotic Game Hunting
Dear Fellow Sportsman,
The greatest reservation a hunter has regarding a game ranch is the “fair chase” concept. Is it sporting to hunt game on a fenced ranch? I would say that, if the fence precluded the escape of the animal, it is not “fair chase”. The biologists say that a whitetail will die within one mile of where it is born. It is fenced by that very nature. No one would doubt, however, that the hunt for a whitetail is fair chase.
Having been to Africa on numerous occasions, I have always been amazed at the tameness of several species of African game. Does this mean that the hunter should not hunt African game, or a Fallow deer in Pennsylvania, Texas, or Colorado? On the other hand, exotics on a game ranch can be as tough to take as a Bighorn sheep in the mountains of Colorado.
The next item to contemplate is the time you will have to spend away from work. While this is not a major obstacle to some, others have but a limited time. Little Creek Ranch is a 4-5 hour drive from both, Denver and Salt Lake City. Hunt price includes two night lodging, meals, guide and license.
