Dear Fellow Sportsman, The greatest reservation a hunter has regarding a game ranch is the "fair chase" concept. Is it sporting to hunt game on a fenced ranch? I would say that, if the fence precluded the escape of the animal, it is not "fair chase". The biologists say that a whitetail will die within one mile of where it is born. It is fenced by that very nature. No one would doubt, however, that the hunt for a whitetail is fair chase.
Having been to Africa on numerous
occasions, I have always been amazed at the tameness of several species of African game. Does this mean that the hunter should not hunt African game, or a Fallow deer in Pennsylvania, Texas, or Colorado? On the other hand, exotics on a game ranch can be as tough to take as a Bighorn sheep in the mountains of Colorado.
The next item to contemplate is the time you will have to spend away from work. While this is not a major obstacle to some,
others have but a limited time. Little Creek Ranch is a 4-5 hour drive from both, Denver and Salt Lake City. Hunt price includes two night lodging, meals, guide and license.
Big, mean hogs are our best draw for hunting. They are wild as hell and can do some real damage if you get in the way. Everyone wants a big tusker, but the bigger they are the wilder they are. There are quite a few big tusker boars, but they are hard to judge when on the run. A ground check is the only way to be sure. Because of this, we do not charge extra for sows.
